Zisscor Facts

Despite their love of music, Zisscor are completely deaf. They "feel" the music through vibrations in the air and ground, which is why they tend to prefer songs with very heavy bass.

On their own free time, Zisscor will make their own music by beating on logs with their tails, rattling miracas, or simply humming. They prefer percussion instruments because of the strong vibrations that they make.

A fully grown Zisscor usually measures 15-20 feet from snout to tail and can weigh anywhere from 150-275lbs. Baby Zisscors are only around 4 inches long. Because they are roughly the size of a coin when curled up, Baby Zisscors are commonly called "emsee"s.

Emsees are raised collectively by the entire nest. Most don't even know who their actual parents are because the entire nest is viewed as their caretakers.

Zisscors instinctively curl around objects that they love in order to keep them "safe". While this is rather adorable when a baby Zisscor is wrapped snugly around your finger, adult Zisscors sometimes forget that chests need to expand in order to breathe.

Only female Zisscors are venomous. However, since it is virtually impossible to differentiate between genders, most Misticpets avoid getting on the wrong side of a Zisscor.

Zisscor venom is one of the deadliest substances in all of Mistica. It works by first paralyzing the muscles and then slowly breaking down the proteins for digestion. Oftentimes this breaking down occurs before the lungs and heart have been paralyzed, causing death, so the experience is often painful to the point where victims wish that the venom would work faster.

This venom is extremely hard for the Zisscor to make, so they use it as sparingly as possible. When hunting they prefer to strangle their victims, and when they bite in self-defense, it is often a "dry bite" where no venom is actually injected. The fear of a lethal bite is enough to keep most predators at bay, though.

Zisscors are surprisingly social creatures. They live in extremely large groups called "nests" that number in the 100s. Biological ties have no place in Zisscor nests, as everyone is considered family.

Hierarchy within nests is based around the complexity and color of the Zisscors' hoods. The more vibrant and decorated a hood is, the higher a Zisscor's status is.

Zisscors collect gems, metal, and various other shiny objects to decorate their hoods with in order to increase their status in the nest.

Nests hunt as a group; they use their tails to communicate amongst each other where they'll hunt, what their formation will be, and what prey they'll take down.

Zisscor are ambush hunters. They stalk their pray from the brush and strike as a group from all sides. They are extremely quick and agile, and their immense numbers coupled with potent venom allows them to take down prey many times their own size.
