Battle Portal Basics
To begin, we should find our way to the Battle Portal first! In your upper navigation bar you'll see a sword image, click that, and you'll be here. Now, what is the Battle Portal? Here you can bring your pets, train them, equip them with items, and then battle baddies! You can win some MC, and also climb the ranks of top fighter in the high scores section.
When you first get there, you'll see two images - one for the battle room, and one for the training room. Until you've trained and gotten yourself some weapons, you don't want to head into that battle room just yet. This guide will help you with some basic weapons and how to equip them. After that, you can go to our other Battle Portal guides to contine on your journey to becoming the best fighter in Mistica! We wish you luck! :)
Offensive Weapons
These are the weapons with which you use to attack your opponent and deal a certain amount of damage.
An example of one of these weapons is the Inferno Dagger. When you use this item, it can deal 9 damage to your opponent. Now, when attacking, your opponent may also be using a defensive weapon, which will block some of your damage points. We'll explain more of this later on in the guide. For a list of the offensive weapons of Mistica, check our other Battle Portal guides. :)
Not all offensive weapons are swords or daggers - some come in vials, some in boxes, some as books, and even more. You also have to be aware that some items, such as Toxic Box of Doom, can only be used once per battle. The item won't disappear after the battle, however. It will still be equipped to your pet, but you are only allowed to use it once throughout one entire battle, so be careful!
Defensive Weapons
These weapons, of course, are the ones you use to block off damage coming from your opponent. These are just as vital and necessary as an offensive weapon during battle.
One example of a defensive weapon is the Charm of the Traveler, which has 10 defense points. If someone attacks you with an Inferno Dagger, 9 offense points, you may very well block all 9 if you're lucky!
Like offensive weapons, what exactly a defensive item is varies. There are cloaks, charms, various types of armor, and more. Also like the offensive weapons, some items can only be used once per battle.
Special Weapons
There are some very special, very useful weapons that come from the Credit Shop. These weapons can not only deal damage, but also do a bit of defending - while others of them can do mostly defense, and then some offense. To find out more about these, be sure to check our other guides! :)
Equipping
Since we've gone over weapons a bit, let's talk about how to equip them. It's very simple!
To equip an item, first make sure that it is a weapon. You can check our items list or other guides for examples of what items are weapons. :) Now, head to your inventory and select the item. When the pop-up opens, ask it to be equipped, and then select which pet you want to equip it to. Do the same for any other weapons you want to equip to your pet! If you ever want to unequip, head to the Battle Portal, go to the battle room, and click 'equipment' at the top. This will show you all of your pets and their equipped weapons. Simply click 'unequip' underneath the weapon to take it off your pet. :)
In Battle
Go to the battle room and pick any opponent. The next screen will have a drop down. Select your battle-prepared pet and go forward!
You'll be asked to select two weapons at the bottom of the page before the battle begins. Yes - only two, but don't worry, it changes every turn. Before each turn you will be asked to check the boxes of two weapons and use them for the next round. It's best to use 1 offensive weapon and 1 defensive weapon, unless you have a special weapon that does both. Check the boxes of the weapons you want and click 'start the attack'. Depending on your stats, you may get a battle log and be asked to select weapons again and continue to attack, or you may have already won! Until you've read our other guides, we don't recommend battling just yet. This is just to let you know how it all works. :)
Strategy
The best strategy is to not be solely offensive or solely defensive. As explained before, when you attack your opponent, they can have a defensive item that can block the damage you try to deliver. Just because a weapon has 15 damage does not mean it will always, or ever will, deliver exactly 15 damage to your opponent. The same goes for defensive items - they will not always block all 10 damage.
The next thing to note is your pet's stats! For more on that, you'll have to head to our training guide. :)
